NICA’s volunteer abroad program differs from other programs by utilizing individual skill sets over a customized period of time. We understand schedules can be tight, so we offer a fulfilling experience over a short two week period. The focus we place on individual interests and expertise ensures a fulfilling global experience no matter how long you wish to stay. Expect to be fully immersed in a project designed around you and the long term sustainability of the community. Participant's skills vary from education to technology; engineering to agriculture. Our community needs your expertise and we design a volunteer experience around your passion so both you and the community benefit to the fullest extent!
Stay Comfortable
We currently have a communal home on the ocean for our volunteers with all of the modern conveniences to ensure you are comfortable and safe throughout your journey. You can expect to have a room that may be shared with one other person, fresh food cooked three times a day, and an experience of community with other participants that will impact you for a lifetime. While you are staying with us, we will be exploring the community and culture and some great destinations throughout Nicaragua. Also, if you love to surf or you just love the ocean, there is no better place to be!
Explore Nicaragua
While community development is an important focus during your time with us, we also understand the importance of exploring Nicaragua and the beautiful culture found throughout the country. Several days of your journey will be spent in the cultural capital of Léon and surrounding areas of the city. Léon offers an exciting introduction to Nicaragua's history by way of her cathedrals and museums. Not far from the city are breathtaking volcanoes that can be hiked or surfed! After a day of adventure, volunteers will enjoy the night-life of Léon as the city is alive with energy. Are you ready to experience Nicaragua to the fullest?
