Maria Jose Corea
Controller, Auditor of Finances
María José is the financial controller for NICA. She graduated in 2007 from the University of Central America (UCA) in Managua, Nicaragua with an accounting and auditing degree. For four years after graduating from UCA, she gained experience in the field of accounting in Nicaragua with an international maritime corporation headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida.
Maria Jose has always shown an interest in the area of auditing because it allows her to develop her accounting skills in a more practical way. She joined Price Water House Coopers in 2011 as an assistant auditor “A” and promoted six months later to the position of Auditor where she had the chance to participate in the auditing team of governmental ministries to review projects funded by international cooperation in Nicaragua.
In 2013, she continued her education by entering to a master’s degree in business administration at the University of Central America (UCA) in Managua. She graduated at the end of 2015, first in her class. In 2013, Maria Jose also joined the NICA team to develop internal controls, procedures, and automated accounting systems to keep economy records of all projects in the rural community of El Tránsito. She also provides reporting and donation tracking for La Laguna de Apoyo projects.
Maria Jose has ten years of experience and focuses on developing and implementing procedures to ensure the activities and programs of NICA fit within the established philosophy. One of Maria Jose’s passions is to help create a more prosperous Nicaragua through new job opportunities and social programs.
